PAIN PUMP LITIGATION

Thank you for visiting our website.  Click here to review an article recently published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine concerning potential problems with pain pumps.

In the article, well-respected orthopedic surgeons issued a warning that pain pumps designed to reduce pain after surgery are potentially dangerous when used in the shoulder joint space. The pumps, manufactured by Stryker Corporation, DJO Inc., I-Flow Inc., BREG Inc., and other companies deliver high concentrations of pain medications directly to the surgical site. According to the article, the pumps may cause permanent damage to cartilage in the shoulder. This can result in severe pain, debilitating stiffness, and an eventual joint replacement surgery for many of those affected. This complication, known as Postarthroscopic Glenohumeral Chondrolysis (PAGCL), is permanent and can lead to extreme pain and lifelong suffering in sixty-three percent of patients that use pain pumps, according to the article.

We are in the process of investigating cases that include the use of pain pumps, not only in the shoulder, but also in the knee, ankle, and hip. We are attempting to determine if the manufacturers of the pumps failed to instruct or warn the U.S. medical community that the safety of using the pain pumps in the joint space had not been established or that the continuous injections of commonly used pain medications may cause permanent injury.

If you are interested in having your potential claim reviewed at no cost to you, please contact us by phone or email and we will send you the documents to get started. If after our review we determine that your case falls within the claim guidelines that we are reviewing, then we will contact you for further information. We will also let you know if we believe the case does not fall within the guidelines.

It is important for you to note that defective medical products claims may be governed by a shorter statute of limitations than other claims and, therefore, we urge you to give this matter your immediate attention if you are interested in having your case reviewed.
